Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the number one streamed track in just 6 months. The single Despacito, which combines reggaeton and pop was not only a way to bring new attention to reggaeton music but also brought more attention to Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 in 2015 had two songs that were mostly Spanish languages, while the year 2016 saw four. But during the peak of Despacito's fame in the year 2017 there were 19 mainly Spanish tracks that made the Top 100. In 2020, there were 41. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix to Despacito (2017) well-known artists began to collaborate with reggaeton musicians, such as Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma for Medellin (2019). In 2020, a few Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the trend of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was keen to keep the trend going. He incorporated electronic dance styles as well as other styles into his music.
